Let It Snow!
Our die hard Governing Board made it to Olympia for our first 2012 meetings. We had Committee break out sessions for Finance & Budget, Education & Programs, National Focus & Strategic Planning and our new Chapter Advisory Team (Past Presidents). Bylaws will be working on revising the Standing Rules and sending drafts by email to the Board. The 2012 State Budget was approved.
We were honored by the attendance of two Past National Presidents. Gail Hartnett of Idaho is our NAR RVP for Region 12 and also is the WCR Liaison to RPAC, a newly formed position. With her usual enthusiasm, Gail gave us a run down on what is happening at NAR level, announced the Region 12 meeting to be held in Boise Feb 29-Mar 2, and reminded us of our inherent duty to invest in our industry/business for the sake of our customers, families, the economy and ourselves. "The speed our of leaders is the pace of our pack."
Immediate Past President Margo Willis and Gail Hartnett go back a long ways. Margo's first roommate at a national event was with Gail and they have been best friends ever since; Gail mentoring Margo to "be the best she could be". We know where that path lead her - to inspire leadership and promoting Women's Council throughout the nation.
Also attending our General Membership meeting was Mark Kitabayashi, President Elect for WA REALTORS® and WCR Member. Debbie Rippeteau, this years State Chapter Governor, gave us tips for membership recruiting and retention (her Chapter won first place in the Recruiting contest last year). Presidents or representatives of the local chapters gave us a summary of their meeting times and programs. Be sure you go to the Chapter section and see if you can attend outside of your area. Let's support each other throughout the state and you just may find that right person to reciprocate business! It's all about who you know..
Thank you to everyone that attended, despite inclement weather conditions. We hope to see more of you at the Spring WCR Day in April.
